Why La-Mulana and it’s sequel will save Japanese gaming?

Do you remember the times you use to spend playing games by solving toughest riddles, exploring places while listening to some upbeat music that’s blasting your way through the game audio, and when you get finished playing the game, you will go through the sound test and listening to theses songs again?  Well, La-Mulana has the perspective that you’re looking for.  If you’re a Castlevania: Symphony of the Night fan such as myself, then I believe La-Mulana is the game for you.

I have been playing the game through twitch TV, countless of hours playing through it and mostly for everyone to see how far I can go through the game, and to be quite honest, I’m not as good.  I know people are livid to the point of screaming at you via-keyboard when you use either a walkthrough and any source of guide throughout the gameplay.  A main rule of playing a game like this is when you play it for the first time, don’t use walkthroughs or any outside help if you want to play it blind.

Another thing when comes to playing it is not to complain how the game designed.  There’s an old thing saying “if it ain’t broke, do not fix it.” Going out saying that the game is highly cryptic that it’s a piece of crap, meaning that you’re giving up too easily.  Maybe some people don’t have the time and patience to put into a game like La-Mulana.   I can go on and on about how La-Mulana can be hard and cryptic, but that doesn’t change the fact that the game is actually good in my perspective.  This is coming from a fan of the games like Castlevania/Metroid style games, and this game really takes the bundle of fun and make it something new to the table.

Anyways, I was asking myself does the game like La-Mulana will save Japanese gaming all together.  The answer is as the game is still under obscurity to the mainstream audiences, then it’s a 50-50 chance that La-Mulana and it’s sequel will become a huge saving grace to the games that we know and love.  With overly amount of RPG titles out there, and the direction that Capcom and Square-Enix is going at right now, then in my opinion, Nigoro, the company that brought you La-Mulana, are the new-blood of the gaming industry, and I hope for most sake in the gaming industry, they can be a breath of fresh air from the games like Resident Evil 5 and 6, and mostly the newer Final Fantasy games.
